Am I going to have to read all five volumes of this biography? This is the thinnest, shortest one I own so far.

The first part of this book deals with Dostoevsky’s arrest with the Petrashevsky Circle and his eight-month detention followed by the infamous mock execution where he came within minutes of facing certain death by firing squad, only to be reprieved at the last moments, and then sent to Siberia for four years. Riveting reading.
