This shit is crazy. Cathy Ames, you terrify me. Are her kids going to have some of her devilishness in them? Will Adam ever stop being such a schmuck?
Also, Lee revealing himself to be able to speak in perfect American English was one of the biggest shocks I've had while reading. The pidgin they had him speaking in was pretty, well, racist, and I chalked it up to the time. A pleasant surprise that was.
