Terrible. I can’t get past the poor writing. What exactly does a Pulitzer Prize indicate? Here’s a “sentence” that actually starts a paragraph.
"Until Frederick went to a camp meeting one Saturday night some twelve miles from Baltimore and, having a grand time, stayed until Monday, thus missing his payment time (Saturday night) by forty-eight hours."
What a disappointment. DNF.

This book is a continuing reminder that the art of editing is dead. Only on pg 55 and I've had to reread multiple strangely constructed sentences. He's already summarizing and repeating himself. I hate when information you've already been given is presented again as if it were new! I am already confused about the timeline. One moment Frederick is 11 and then he's 9 again. Can already tell this book should be shorter.
