Meanwhile… I totally googled it and the author DID ON PURPOSE write it based on the Scarlet Pimpernel so now I automatically love this author and this book even more: ““What if I gender-swapped The Scarlet Pimpernel and instead of French aristocrats getting executed, they’re witches who once ruled and were overthrown?”

Already loving this premise. Very reminiscent of The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy. Almost a retelling so far…which I REALLY love since the Scarlet Pimpernel is super underrated (and more people need to read it or watch the play)
