new book! will definitely take me another chapter or so to settle into the writing style, especially coming off the song of achilies. the writing here is a lot more plain, grounded, and dense as opposed to the poetry-forward prose of tsoa. this isn’t a bad thing! it really lends to the characterization. i already have a favourite character and duo within 30 pages, so im excited for the next 770!!

what i thought was going to happen eventually happened, but didn’t end the way i was fearing it would. surprisingly, what i predicted to occur at the beginning of the book and since forgot as the plot progressed FINALLY paid off around page 500. LIFE IS GOOD!
