Thought I was done for the day but got pulled back immediately. A group conversation is an infinitely better way to understand a past era than a single-author book, because you don’t have to guess at what is “the era” and what is some dude’s idiosyncrasies.

It’s a little odd to be reading about stories I haven’t read debated by writers I mostly haven’t read with 50-year-old perspectives, but I think my inner academic nerd was starved because I’m enjoying scribbling margin comments.

That and sarcastic comments is a way to channel frustration at the features of sexism that hasn’t changed since 1975.
