this app already lacks so many basic features… we can barely interact with one another as it is, and now they want to remove the only real way of communication? it feels so ironic (and honestly a little embarrassing) that a platform built around community keeps taking features away instead of improving them. maybe instead of removing things, they could finally update the app???

just saw the message. that's messed up
goodreads not being as big as IG or FB doesn’t excuse how clearly they neglect this app... it’s deplorable, and the neglect is just flagrant at this point!!
GoodReads has done some dumb stuff, but this is by far the dumbest.
I don’t get this change at all. I have had wonderful conversations through DM and will really miss the feature. GR seems determined to make itself worse. So frustrating.
Also shows that they don’t really care. Instead of monitoring who is on the app they take away communication between friends, mods, and others
