Dear Goodreads admins,

I hope this email finds all of you well. I'm here to express concern over the new update and messages you have sent.

You're taking away the DMS. The main form of communication on Goodreads. I, and fellow members of the app, protest this act. We ask of you to not get rid of DMS. Your main point of getting rid of DMS, is to keep the app and site safe, and I get that, but surely, there are other ways to keep the app safe.
Such as:
- Banning suspicious accounts.
- Taking a look into reported accounts.
- Making accounts created by minors private.
And etc. I'm sure you admins are more than capable of coming to a solution that doesn't include taking away our rights to communicate with fellow readers. As Goodreads is a form of social media where people communicate with each other regarding books. And taking our forms of communication will only result in people leaving the app and looking for better alternatives. And I am positive, that the admins of the app want to make this app as alive as possible, and make it the best app for book lovers. And by taking our rights to communicate with fellow readers away, does not make it the best app for book lovers. We humbly ask you to keep the PMS as they are an important form of communication for fellow readers, as they not only help us communicate with each other, but they help us create new friendships, and have buddy reads.

Hello,
I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out because of the recent update of the removal of private messages and outside links and images.
Direct messages are an essential component of the social aspect of Goodreads and removing them will leave many people unable to communicate with their friends and overall affect peoples' usage of this platform. Goodreads stands out from other book tracking apps because of how easy it is to connect with other people and form new friendships and so l believe that removing this feature leaves Goodreads with much to lose in terms of user satisfaction and overall usage.
With that being said, as someone who has been regularly using this platform for x years, I have no wish to move to a different platform. I urge you to reconsider this change and not only keep direct messages open between individual members, but improve several features that have been a source of user dissatisfaction for a long time. I believe that these actions will not only provide a more enjoyable experience for users but increase usage of the platform in the knowledge that our requests are being considered.

In the coming weeks, we will be making some updates to how messaging works on Goodreads. You may have already received an email about this upcoming change.

What's changing?
Sending direct messages between individual members will no longer be available.
Images and external links will no longer be supported in messages.

While sending direct messages between individual members are no longer available, you can still access your past messages from your inbox, Group moderators can still send broadcast messages to their group members, and you can still send group invitations to your Goodreads friends. All other public interactions, such as writing and responding to book reviews, remains unchanged.

Maybe we should move on to spam rating gr 1 star… if we write reviews about the dms being removed and lower the rating that could help
