The dialogue is effective but doesn't make a lot of sense. First chapter introducing "Tash" was totally pointless and ineffective.

The tone is consistently one of hysteria and brain-washed gullibility. Difficult to suspend disbelief, especially during exchanges of dialogue.

Very tedious building the case for why the Stockholm Syndrome victim would be fully convinced of her captor's virtue.

Knowing the mother of a newborn is going to have reservations about agreeing to participate in a dangerous activity is really not "insight," certainly not enough to warrant surprise.

Just figured it out--this is a (more) melodramatic Deep Blue Sea with no killer sharks and no Samuel L. Jackson.

The descriptions of the high tech facility and the idea of opening a secret research facility as a retreat for privileged guests are all great technothriller fodder, but something about the flow of the prose makes it feel artificial, like you can see where two ideas were pinned together to assemble the story. A lego model of a real building.

There is an attempt at humor here, but with all the melodramatics as observed by Tash, it gets hard to tell which parts are meant to be funny, which undermines any tension that existed.
