This many exclamation points is exhausting.

The tone is consistently one of hysteria and brain-washed gullibility. Difficult to suspend disbelief, especially during exchanges of dialogue.

The descriptions of the high tech facility and the idea of opening a secret research facility as a retreat for privileged guests are all great technothriller fodder, but something about the flow of the prose makes it feel artificial, like you can see where two ideas were pinned together to assemble the story. There is an attempt at humor here, but with all the melodramatics as observed by Tash, it gets hard to tell which parts are meant to be funny, which undermines any tension that existed.
