Jude and Taryn were only nine when Madoc took them to Faerie, and that world became the only life they truly remembered. They had no parents, no real memories of the human world, and they spent a decade growing up under Faerie’s rules, dangers, and Madoc’s complicated presence as the adult who shaped them. It’s messed up, but when your core memories form in a place like that, you start to belong there simply because you don’t belong anywhere else. Faerie feels like home to them in a way the human world never could, while Vivi, who entered as an adult with her identity already formed, never felt that same pull to stay.
