The chia seed comes from a primarily desert plant?? Interesting

the mental picture of rats and chipmunks visiting the spring is almost enough to make me gag

~ Rabbits are a foolish people. They do not fight except with their own kind, nor use their paws except for feet, and appear to have no reason for existence but to furnish meals for meat-eaters.

~ For all the toll the desert takes of a man it gives compensations, deep breaths, deep sleep, and the communion of the stars.

~ Go as far as you dare in the heart of a lonely land, you cannot go as far that life and death are not before you.

~ A land of lost rivers, with little in it to love; yet a land that once visited must be come back to inevitably. If it were not so there would be little told of it.

The Indians call the Mojave Desert the Country of Lost Borders. Isn't that so beautifully poetic???

Pre-read: while checking off Sense and Sensibility on my Ambleside list, this little title next to it caught my eye. And it's a short book of essays about the American desert?! SIGN ME UP. If it's good I might recommend it to Nathan 🤔
