No more personal messages. Why? I have met some incredible people over my decade here, and often our friendships were enabled by our ability to have conversation at length w/out audience. Really GOOD fucking people, each I likely never would've known a fraction as well on a human/non-avatar level. That's the point, isn't it; to further decenter the 'I' of GR for the utility of commerce? THANK YOU ALL. We had a time.

Yeah - it is sad to see this site continue to fall apart. 5 or 10 years ago it really was a fantastic place, and I used to visit and post many times a day. Now I rarely come on and, when I do, struggle to see anything from people I actually care about, such as you. Amazon dont care, of course, as they have already strip mined everything we have done and fed it into A.I. The only thing I can feel good about is that at least that means the A.I has all we have written over the years about neglected and forgotten authors...
I had the same thought when I heard of the update.
Some of the very people in these same comments are people I feel like I fucking KNOW (don't blush, darling, although I know it's nigh impossible not to with that maidenish complexion) and never, ever would have. Rare is the Fionnuala that has a chain of long and intensive discussions for anything she reads. God bless her for it; she's an invaluable boon to everyone and thing she touches. However, most of us don't have that public discourse with our friends, or at least not anymore. I agree, darling (oops), that GR 't'ain't what it used to be, but that ALSO means that almost all of the silly, immature, and irresolutely male tribalism shit has gone away. This has been a big check in the win column. Any and everyone: please message me your email or Snapchat/TikTok/CB radio handle or whatever if there's the slightest chance I might nor have it. I just began to send out some signal flares to people. The times they-AREN'T-a-changin', the TIMES ARE WILLFULLY-APPROACHING-DETERMINISTICALLY FUCKING LAME AS SHIT.

I still find most books from the inner flap of DJ's. I'll always be a liner notes guy.
