500 pages into a book and I still cannot grasp wtf his deal is with her. not their actual deal, but why he wants her so much. it's written in plain words that he does yet the motive (is there a motive?) makes no sense. 500 more pages to find out I guess

apparently part 2 is when things start happening but I'm still deeply disturbed and conflicted by part 1 and have little faith in how certain characters can possible be redeemed...
