I am liking this new type of narration from Dostoevsky. From the books I have read of his, he usually offers an omniscient third person narrative voice that tends to be reliable. In this book, he is somewhat of a "gossiper" which is surprising. The narrator is nameless, so far, but he tends to know a lot about the characters and what society thinks of them. I wonder if that was done on purpose.

I am actually laughing at some of the descriptions that the narrator has of the characters. Also the conversations and the drama that is going on over the secret is ridiculous. I am loving this book so much! The characters are so different from one another yet have a share/common political ideology. But at least in the recent pages, it is changing. It feels different now, I am assuming it is going to get worse.

I am enjoying the characters that I have been introduced to. It is confusing keeping up with the different nicknames for them but I managed to understand somewhat who is being referenced. Nikolay/Nicolas did something shameful and it is still a mystery as to what he did. He is seen as “crazy,” but why? What did he do? Liputin is bringing up the rumors, making Alexay angry because it also involves him.
