This book, filled with repulsive, and thoroughly misogynistic bullshit, also happens to be politically impotent through and through. Cleaver was basically a hollow eccentric: thoroughgoing deviance only in the ways already recognized as existent by the status quo — with no real meaning behind it. He was an idiot and a flake. Ironically, it was white critics who glazed this book to gain a feeling of belonging.
