Hey Goodreads friends: over the years, I've enjoyed many conversations with many of you, via the direct message function on the site. It sounds like Goodreads is removing this. If you want to stay in touch, just reach out via this function, until it disappears, and I'd be happy to exchange personal email addresses. Cheers!

While I am merely a lurker on this site, I just want to say thank you for your reviews. Insightful and funny, your reviews have helped me steer toward or clear of several books and to find some new gems.

I just recently came back to Goodreads and there have been some changes that I don’t love. I remember reading your reviews and always appreciated them. I will follow you on IG if I don’t already.
I do plan on staying - as much as I hate how Goodreads treats its users. Typical corporation. Anyway, I don't have any real interest in setting up a new situation somewhere else. This one really works for me. I tried with Substack, but as much as I love that site, I barely use it for reviews and am just reposting old ones there from time to time. So, I suppose I'm sticking with this monstrous site...EDIT: "I barely use it for reviews" - I guess not actually true. There are a good number of great book substacks that I follow. I wish I could post links (fucking Goodreads) but these are the book substacks that I follow:
- Woman of Letters (the author Naomi Kanakia)
- Laura Thompson's Substack
- Auraist
- Holodoxa (Stetson on Goodreads)
- Miller's Book Review
- Mr. and Mrs. Psmith's Bookshelf
- The Metropolitan Review
- The Upstairs Window (Blair on Goodreads)
- What to read if
- A Kenyan Dispatch (Mwana on Goodreads)
