I definitely should have read this collection before the last hours since in Chain Of Gold I was really confused by Anna and Ariadne and what was happening with them. However this story gives some background into their past and also how Anna came to be herself, which was lovely to read about

As someone who read the Last Hours trilogy before this I knew what this story was about. However getting to better understand Matthew's perspective and see it in real time allowed me to emphasize with his character more.

Also made me realize how much character growth Alastair had during the Last Hours
