As I start reading the wit of Dickens that I enjoy so much is in great supply - as he begins to describe the members of the Pickwick Club by focusing on their clothes - its hard to explain but I am starting to appreciate the appeal. It reminds me of the beginning of A Christmas Carol where he goes on a sidebar about the saying "Dead as a Doornail". Clever stuff.
