When I imagine there having been an internet, social media, or smartphones when I was an adolescent, the future—my present—goes hazy. It’s tempting to believe in my own underlying integrity at that age, to believe that I would have prevailed even then to whatever extent I have, but in truth I suspect I might not have survived at all.
