Do all of Slaughter’s books include distant sisters with varying degrees of substance abuse, a veterinarian father figure, father-son killers, and a lot of unnecessary violence? Or just the two I randomly chose to read?

I’m trying to give her books another chance but I feel like I’m reading about the characters in “False Witness”. The over explained violence for pure shock value doesn’t help either.
