This book has all the things I love. Post-WWI with recovering soldier, spinster narrator who is calm and collected and overworked with a soft heart, way too much backstory, lots of telling, a lovely character voice, plenty of realistic and nondramatic emotion, a girl with divorced parents who acts exactly like I did… this book feels like it was made for me. 😂
