“Darling,” they said,
whispering, “it makes me ever so happy to see such reverence for a Pillar of
Heaven, but I might in fact be the very last of my family who’d smile to see
such swift obeisance, especially to such a fool as I. And your smile is far
too bright to be obscured by floorboards. Please arise.”

We help stories, Nesi.
We nudge, we correct, we push when need be. But we are not a part of any
story but our own. The story moves on without us and if we stayed to see
how it ended, well . . . we’d leave our own stories behind.

And to this day, I swear, it was as though T’sidaan’s tears had been
drawn by the loving hands of a child too young for a name but with a heart
already so full of love.

How
did you tell someone, “Hey did you know your life is an entrance exam for

If God truly exist I want them to be like T’sidaan.
This is what I believe god must be like.

We’ll call this our first lesson then, little kit. If you are to
trick others, you must be honest with yourself about why you’re doing it.
Otherwise, tricks fall apart, becoming ineffective and bumbling. Or worse,
they become cruel for cruelty’s sake. I refuse to let that happen; there are far too many of my siblings who endorse that already.
