Heaven, but I might in fact be the very last of my family who’d smile to see
such swift obeisance, especially to such a fool as I. And your smile is far
too bright to be obscured by floorboards. Please arise.”

We’ll call this our first lesson then, little kit. If you are to
trick others, you must be honest with yourself about why you’re doing it.
Otherwise, tricks fall apart, becoming ineffective and bumbling. Or worse,
they become cruel for cruelty’s sake. I refuse to let that happen; there are far too many of my siblings who endorse that already.
