"[Revelation's] major impact through the centuries has been to nurture synthesizing imagination and not analytic reason. Christians have not gotten new ideas out of the Revelation; they have had their imaginations aroused and become responsive to God's word in tone and nuance."

Good stuff so far.

Tonight as I was reading part of the chapter titled, "The Last Word on Evil", I kept thinking about how the same Jesus it talks about at length in Revelation, he and his power lives in us as Christians. That power is available in some way to us. That is the current word on evil, you could say. Too bad so many fall short of living up to that. I do. But that thought is encouraging to me. That's robust. Rich. Hopeful.

"[St John] does not quite scripture in order to prove something; rather, he assimilates scripture so that he becomes someone."

Also talks about how scripture is "recreated in him."

Beautiful, reminds me of Josh Nadeau's book when he talks about the "beauty of becoming"
