Our birth pain in bringing new life into the world corresponds to God's birth pain in bringing His covenant people into new creation life (1 Cor. 10:11). Our birth pain doesn't purify us; the blood of Christ does. We who embrace the Gospel believe that nothing can add to Christ's atoning work. Our motherhood is about a man: Jesus. Ours is a daily call to humble, repentant, and grateful mothering labors.
