Idk how I feel about this. The beginning reads very much like the old fairytales I read growing up, in a worn collection that was already falling apart before I was born. It has a certain style to the writing that fits very well for short stories, but is offputting in a full length novel. Up until maybe 14-15% it continues this writing style of tell rather than show. These first 7 chapters are like one big prologue.

It's starting to pick up. Around the 25% mark is where I started gaining interest in it, the beginning really felt like an extended prologue and backstory, and now we're actually getting into the real story.
