Summery: The main characters in the story are Jake, Wes, and Amber. The story is about Jake Even's grandfather passing a treasure hunt on to his grandson. This book takes place in Yosemite National Park. Events take place in the national park and in the forests of the park. The inciting incidents of the events are all coming back to Jake. And lastly the story is told by a 3rd person and it is in alternative chapters.

Inciting Incident: Unlike most the inciting incident starts at page one, Jake Even the main character starts by having a very dangerous and important journey of a treasure hunt left by his grandfather. And this whole treasure hunt is separated into 6 books in total. But in this specific book, Jake finds an old cassette tape in the beginning of the story and that is one of many clues to finding the hidden treasure.

THE QUEST: I think my book/ main character "Jake" has the archetype quest because the whole book series talks about 3 kids who are cousins go on a treasure hunt that the main characters grandpa left for them and is very serious. The 3 kids all face problems like the twin owls who are 2 people who dress in black and are also going for the treasure that the cousins are going for. They face many dangerous climates also.

TEXT to SELF: This book reminds me of when I went to Yosemite for a trip and stayed there for about 4 days. The book talks about 3 kids going on a trip for a treasure hunt. And what I remember I went with my mom and dad so that is exactly 3 people just like the book. Other similarities I can make is that they visited every single popular place in Yosemite and We did that too, hiking along some trails and waterfalls.

Characterization: The author reveals a character named Wes by making him really funny in the beginning of the book and then when we get to around pg40 we can see how Wes uses his intelligent mind to solve riddles and puzzles throughout the book. We can see that the author revealed Wes's characteristics by first making him the class clown of the whole group, then making him the most intelligent one in the whole book.
