VISUALIZE: This scene presents a horrific fate in Four's mind. "I shout her name, and she coughs again, this time more blood. She screams for help, and I scream for her, and I don't hear anything, I don't feel anything, but my heartbeat, but my own terror" (Roth 74). This helped me picture the feelings Tobias had in the moment, the fear he had for Tris in danger, and the dedication he had to help save her.

SUMMARY: Tris and Tobias, the main characters, left Chicago to learn the truth about the rest of the world. They discover a new society that controls people using genetics, which causes a lot of problems and unfair rules. The story alternates chapters between Tris and Tobias in the first person perspective, and is set in the distant future. It is sad but meaningful, and it shows how bravery matters.
