I used to blog but that was before GR. I'm looking to start blogging again.Does anyone have any recommendations for a site that is easy to use and free? Not Wordpress, I found that anything but simple. It's a few years now since I've had this weird depression where I just can't communicate with people on or offline I do read reviews though I don't write them & think just blogging into the ether might work for me.

I’ve actually been thinking about starting a blog too, but that’s as far as I had got, so unfortunately I’ve no recommendations.

Brian wrote: "Hi Petra! Have you looked at Substack? Wishing you a great end to 2025 and a wonderful '26."I read blogs on Substack, but everytime I find one I like, I find it was a trial period and I have to pay. I don't want to have a paid blog. I am looking for something like Goodreads, where I can make posts (reviews) very easily without any technical knowledge but it would still look good! I am hoping to sort out my issues by writing them down and be able to interact with people again.
My website guru is trying to talk me into switching over to Substack. Like you, I have no interest in monetizing it. Would love to read your blogs/reviews over there.
This is peak teenage millennial of me, but what about Tumblr? It seems to be enjoying a bit of a resurgence. IIRC, there is an option to not have anyone comment. Which takes the pressure off you having to … engage (which I totally relate to) Alternatively, there is Medium.
You don’t have to monetize on Substack. You can leave the posts free for all and it’s also free for you until you start monetizing. Good luck!
I use Dreamwidth, which started as an LiveJournal alternative. It's reasonably usable, though I also use Wordpress at work, and it also seems usable to me, so I dunno. Tumblr is good for easy microblogging, though their content policies are more restrictive.
I don't have experience with Substack. But people who don't like the fact that Substack lets Nazis have accounts recommend Ghost. But both are more worthwhile if you're looking to make money off your blog.
