Overall I thought this book had some really important and interesting messages and I think the relationships were explored really well between all the characters. It was also such an immersive read due to, as I said, the really in depth descriptions (sometimes that was more welcome than others but there you go). Anyways, I did really like the book despite having a bit of an overload in the middle.

I did in fact see the word phallus again but that is not the point. I did in fact enjoy this book despite the rather… in depth descriptions. I really liked the new version of Eros and Psyche and thought the message about freedom and being who you are as a woman especially was really powerful. I also really liked the way that de Robertis wrote in such detail, making every image so vivid.

If I have to see the word ‘phallus’ one more time I think I might cry. Also a tree really? I thought that was going to be a one time weird thing but now it’s become her daytime lover like… what am I supposed to do with that information? Otherwise it’s going alright but I don’t know how she’s going to get through the rest of the story in a hundred pages…we’ll see…
