Finishing unfinished things. This book is endearing, a great companion. I love reading people’s diaries & Jackie writes passionately about their ideas.
However, stylistically, this book often aggravates me, “I remember wearing [converse] in middle school when no one else had those shoes. People would call me a Satan worshipper, but I was like, ‘I’m emo! I’m not a Satan worshipper.’ I was also vegan.”

This book annoys me as much as it makes me ache. What I find annoying is how deeply the narrator believes in their own ideas, in the uniqueness of their own experiences, in Didion’s words “One of the mixed blessings of being twenty and twenty-one and even twenty-three is the conviction that nothing like this, all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding, has ever happened before”. I remember believing this too
