Li Susu saves Tantai Jin who has been tortured. They are still sniping at each other but they are doing so with a sense of honesty. This is the first indication that they respect each other although they still dislike each other intensely at the moment.

I don't know how much the book is different but what he went through in the drama, he totally deserves revenge.

In the book the cruelty is even worse! The first arc is during time when he was a hostage prince who was forced into marriage and this dream sequence shows us that his family were deliberately cruel towards him because the Emperor blamed him for the death of his concubine. The book explores the origin of evil. Tantai Jin has a demon bone in him that turns him into the demon god, but it needs to be triggered. The family’s coldness and downright mental + physical abuse of this little boy awakens his evil streak. The drama shows this too but it feels more visceral in the book. So yes, he deserves to take revenge, but his revenge is brutal. He kills the mother of his half-brother, because he believes it will even the playing field if all the imperial children are motherless.
I don't exactly support his decision to just start killing people indiscriminately but it really baffled me when those individuals who abused him the most, were then "suprised" when he went insane. Well, they were the ones who created this monester, too late to play innocent then.
