Got to love this table of chapters. It starts in January 1999 with the first rocket to Mars and ends in October 2026. Oh, the optimism of those early SF writers regarding progress.
So far, three expeditions have failed, the fourth just turns bad. Mars is inhabited. But the Martians haven't waited for us. And are into telepathy and creating hallucinations. They bake crystal cakes, sip lava and kill us humans casually.
