Though not much has happened yet, Campbell, as ever, really knows how to get under the reader's skin with tripped-out, nightmarish imagery. Sometimes it's just a fleeting glimpse of something in the periphery, but man can it be unnerving. I've read lots of Campbell over the years andI've yet to find a novel of his that compares with his collections. That may change with this one. So far so good.

It's pretty rare for me to re-read a book after only 5 years, especially so for one that I didn't give 5 stars. But this one has stuck with me, always taunting me for not giving it all the stars. So I suppose I'm here to figure out why I didn't, when I should be checking out one of the many unread Campbell novels and collections that are sitting on my shelves.
