“This is the satanic triumph of propaganda. It simply closes one’s ears to what is right or what is wrong.” Hans Fritzche, interviewed by Leon Goldensohn
This book is heavy to read but necessary I feel given the way Nazism is now referred to reflexively as a way of demonizing any opponent. What did the members of the Nazi party believe about Hitler and themselves?

“…I heard rumors about mass killings of Jews, but I could do nothing about it and I knew that it was useless to investigate these rumors and to find out about them accurately, which would not have been too hard, but I was busy with other things, and even if I would have found out what was going on…it would simply have made me feel bad.” Hermann Goering, second in command to Hitler.

We need to know what Nazism actually was, what authoritarianism actually was. It’s also chilling to hear me wholeheartedly believe and justify the atrocities they participated in for the “good” reasons they clung to. A horrific reminder that the good of some cannot come at the cost of the rest of humanity that we desperately need moving into 2026 around the globe.
