This is an epic tale of the old American West that spans many years. So far the story includes travelling by wagon train, a catastrophe with a buffalo stampede, deaths caused by both indigenous men and white men, runaway slaves, the start of the Civil War, and more. I am halfway down with the book and it is not a romance. While I love the characters, they are usually not even in the same state together.
