I thought I understood Grace, but the ending of chapter 23 made me realize that I've been crediting him for something he hadn't actually earned yet. One flashback changed how I understood everything that had already happened until then.

"Looks like Iike I'm one of the lucky ones.
I'm using 'lucky' loosely here. I'm on a suicide mission."

"I'm going to die out here. And I'm going to die alone."

"What's two plus two?"
Something about the question irritates me. I'm tired. I drift back to sleep.
A few minutes pass, then I hear it again.
"What's two plus two?"
