Honestly loved it & gave me some other things to dig into through the source materials used. It's also reinforced the concept of commodifying attention per our online/phone use & accepting that it should be a regulated landscape for our own good (despite people screaming against it on account of freedoms lost). The concept of alternative markets or platforms also got me thinking and I love how the author frames this.

The Public Attention chapter and its subsection are creepy in their accuracy. Call them observations, call them interpretations of systems at play, or what it is. I agree with everything being said and it doesn't make me feel good that I do. It just breaks down what I already know into such a specific way that orders them better than if you observed organically. Definitely took notes/highlighted some things.

This is all extremely cringe and makes me want to throw my phone off a bridge....or get a dumb phone.

It's kind of painful to read but because what he is arguing I'm understanding firsthand as an adhd Xennial. It's a lot of call backs to some heavier subjects but he does it in a way to not completely lose the reader in my opinion. Looking forward to where this goes for better or worse.
