Well that was rude. Just kill Tenes & let Arnsetrath take over her body. Sure. I'm only incredibly distraught & upset & angry & absolutely crying at how unfair it all is. Not cool Martha Wells, not cool. There is nothing worse than killing off a liked character to make plot for a less liked character. Ugh I'm so utterly upset. And who even was Highsun to just turn random villain in the last hour?! Ugh. Not cool.

Finally getting to the part where Kai becomes the Witch King, which I had been wondering about, since the first book never addressed it despite the title, which I found odd but I guess it's snappy & intriguing.

Definitely a lot slower paced than the first book. It took 140 pages to get to the plot mission in the present. I don't really mind bc I love the characters and world but it probably could have been introduced sooner, especially since it was already implied in the first book that the scumbags were still alive in their homeland probably plotting for the next war. So about time. But the crew's together so I'm good.
