Every character feels tormented one way or another by circumstance and constantly leering at another discreetly with some assumption or agenda. Even the otherworldly Ghost has an underlying tension indicating there is more than what meets the eye. Everyone feels unreliable and unstable, and it creates a tense atmosphere.
