Also should have been keeping track of how many times Sol “just can’t work up the energy” or freezes or whatever. It would have more weight if it didn’t keep happening over and over and over again.

This is the first scene between Sol and Diego that’s actually sweet, where I can actually feel how they care about each other.

Fourth instance of “let out a small laugh.” Wish I’d been keeping track of letting out sighs or breaths or whatever. Oh my gosh.

That’s the third use of “letting out a small laugh”. First use was on page 102, second was on page 128, and yes, I’m keeping track. This is infuriating, but enjoyably so. I’m having a great time here.

This is not good writing, but more than that, this is not confident writing. He is not confident in himself, and he is not confident in his readers.

The best editor in the world can’t fix bad writing, and this editor fucking sucks.

Note to all authors and editors: it’s “hon”, not “hun”. Yes, I will die on this hill.

Another sign of a bad book is when the protagonist constantly freezes at key moments so the plot can happen. It makes your main character have no character, or have her character flip-flop as the plot demands. It’s very annoying.

The transitions between each paragraph are just terrible. Nothing is connecting with each other. So much of the book feels like filler.

Once again, we have a book that’s all tell and no show.
