also what's fascinating is seeing how these small things come back (noticing after u reread this 4 times). like Simon complainimg about his parents putting him in a box like nothing about him is allowed to change (which is relatable as a teenager) and then he does the same thing to Nora lol

I think I was a high school junior the first time I read this book and now I'm a college junior and the line about how he wants it to feel like Christmas again, "I want it to feel like how it used to feel" really really hits lol

yeah I'm rereading this for the 4th (?) time but Becky albertalli really captures the vibe of awkward teenagers and teenagers in general. like no one feels like a caricature and I can pull all the vibes she's putting out, i.e. "everything is a little more perfect with Alice around" is the same feeling of nostalgia and u feel like a younger version of urself in familiar dynamics
