And his grandmother had replied happily, Yes, he's my uchimago - my son's son!
Ayumi hadn't known the significance of the word back then. It was new to him and sounded important, and it remained with him until he was old enough to understand.
His grandmother's use of uchimago signified love and acceptance. It cemented their position - him and his parents - in the family.

I thought, theres no way I'm gonna die. Were getting married, and I'm going to make up with my parents, and life is going to be so good from now on. Only good things would happen to us. I wasnt scared. I couldn't breathe, but I felt good. I knew you would be with me when I woke up.

Story three about the best friends made me cry. The pain I felt reading her guilt. She totally misunderstood her friendship with misano and Misano was always looking out for her. So heartbreaking reading the part where they meet and are cry to each other saying sorry.

“So many things in the world don’t get resolved in the world with an apology. Stop being naive. It brings people down when someone around them is always like I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
