Oh, don't mind me, or my tear soaked shirt.
Mappo and Icarium's beautiful display of friendship and camaraderie gots me all worked up yet again. Their subplot was my favourite during my first read, and goddamn does it still hit me in all the spots I never knew ached.

This book is taking me ages to finish. On the plus side, in the time it's taken me to read Deadhouse Gates again, I've written 3 short stories and have started revising some of my older narratives 😎 Even got a wordpress site in the works.

Anyway, book is good. It remains an enjoyable read, even more so the second time around.

Those damn Rats!

Excellent midpoint revelation of information to the reader. Erikson employs this method so incredibly well. No spoilers, but we get like 4 major storylines all converging while some pretty big historical truths are revealed to the reader (through an unreliable narrator, mind you).

He does this masterfully, it's one of the reasons I love his writing.

The sun was rising, the sorcerous storm over the sea withdrawing from shore to boil black and bruised over the middle of the straits.

What a fucking beautiful sentence. Speak it out loud and feel da rhythm baby.

This reread is taking me ages, for all the best reasons.

Heboric has such a cool character arc. Big fan of Baudin too.

Distractions have taken me, locked me away in quiet rooms so that I could focus on tasks piling in my mind.

At last, I am freed from creativity's chains, and it is time to return to this big ol' bad boy.
