The pacing is all wrong: too fast in some places & so slow and laborious in others. The characters have no depth: Cherish is completely one note & shows no backbone. Gawain is an ass to his nephew. There is no tension or lead up to their infatuation, or a bare introduction to the characters’ backstory: cherish’s evil uncle comes out of nowhere, as does Gawain’s failed love. The conversation is stilted. DNF.
