If we don’t protect eels with stricter hunting regulations, then the population will continue to decrease. Passing on eel fishing traditions is very important in several different cultures, but how can you pass on those traditions without eels to fish? Regulations prevent overfishing, but you can still fish😭

Ok so we’ve learned that eels are sexual reproducers and where male and female reproductive organs are (once they form), the different metamorphosis stages of the eels, and finally where they reproduce (+ that American and European eels are only different bc European eels have extra vertebrae in their spines)

So you’re telling me… we “believe” that eels are reproducing and laying eggs in the Sargasso Sea, which is where they’ve found the smallest specimens of the first metamorphosis stage of eels… BUT WEVE NEVER WITNESSED A MATURE EEL IN THE SARGASSO SEA?????? AND WE STILL DONT KNOW HOW THEY REPRODUCE???
