Patrick Rothfuss recently shared my review of his Wise Man's Fear on his Facebook account. Which is super flattering, especially since the review is pretty critical at times, but I imagine he just got a kick out of HULK VOICE being used. Anyway, THANK YOU PATRICK ROTHFUSS. not that you are reading this of course, but still, thanks. I think an author sharing my review with his public is a first for me.

It warms the heart to see the elation created by celebrity recognition.
Not to bust your bubble or anything; Rothfuss is good at getting others to write things for him. His editor supplies what there is of a plot.
On a personal level I've been publicly recognized by Garth Risk Hallberg. I confess to an excitement which wore off in three days.

Hahah, Woo, any comment that starts with "not to bust your bubble or anything," ultimately means, "I'm intending to bust your bubble even though it's totally unnecessary." That is exciting Mark. Whether Woo is right about Rothfuss enjoying people 'writing for him'--because I'm sure most authors hate entertaining reviews--he's connected enough to his readers to see, acknowledge, and probably cackle himself near to death when he sees a review worthy enough for it.
thanks Mackey!Nick: yeah, Woo's an ass. it is definitely exciting for me that an author who has written two books that I love actually shared my review and I am not even slightly abashed by that excitement. I have my issues with the second book (and I loathed the novella, but enough said on that one) but in the end, who cares? the important thing for me is that Rothfuss created two books that I spent so many hours enjoying and so my main feeling towards him is gratitude for giving me a wonderful time. his work has added to my life, not subtracted from it. his sharing my review with his Facebook friends delights me, especially given that my review was one with a lot of critique in it.
Congratulations. A lot more people are going to love your reviews too now, this one is just the start!
Lina, thank you very much!Petra, we shall see! HULK REVIEW is singular. other reviews will no doubt drive new followers away with their pretentious use of gifs or their Dear Diary type attributes or their hack attempts at meaningfulness!
In 3-4 occasions I have posted reviews and had authors respond, and it always freaks me out. I write critical reviews of one guy and he always likes them. Masochist? One author, with whom I am now friends, loved it that I had googled her and assumed intentions about her work from her facial expressions. Burt congrats, yr approach is as usual creative and insightful. His reviews are like that too sometimes.
thanks! I'm happy to say that my interactions with authors on Goodreads have nearly always been positive ones, even for the critical reviews. there used to be a lot of controversy on this site (or maybe there still is? I dunno) about the various author-reviewer battles that have occurred, but I've never had one.
