That quote is from the story “Emergency.” There’s something fucked up with that story. There’s something sick and blinding in all of them, actually. Only a few more stories left. I wish we read all of these last semester.

Denis Johnson collects pain like a rain bucket. He is so vivid and atmospheric in his writing.
“Under Midwestern clouds like great grey brains…”
I think I need to read Train Dreams now.
