I read a chapter a day of this gem. It is a tough read, it’s dated, but our mother’s and grandmother’s lived this life. In the mid 1940’s 51% of women in America were married at 18. That is astounding!! Oh how times have changed. I am so happy to have been born when I was and I am hopeful that my daughter’s will enjoy a more equal life than I have.

This book gets more fascinating with each chapter. The actions of a few influential people shaped the views of women for so long.

This book has some amazing references from famous feminists that fought for a woman’s voting rights. It’s fantastic to read about these ladies that have made my life better today.

This is a tough book to read. The quotes on how men saw women back in the 50’s and early 60’s is disturbing. Women were seen as nothing more than a way to serve men and produce babies. This book was most likely a start to the changes women have experienced today. It’s dated, but very well written and relevant for the time.
