Fool me once.... Despite the AWFUL AWFUL ending of No Sex Please, which I rewrote in my brain, so we're gonna pretend that Turner's ending was just a first draft that the editor--thank god--kiboshed, I am trying another book. So far, it's once again delightfully, immediate transporting.

Oh poop. Nothing's wrong with the writing, no horrible choice ending, but this particular tale just veered into topics I don't like in my fiction novels. Setting this Turner aside. Will try another.

Turner certainly knows how to build reader tension and anxiety. I gotta know! I gotta read on! I am so incredibly curious, and I have such a sense of delicious foreboding for my character and her little family.

I am in palpitations for Turner's storytelling. I just love her characters--from primaries to tertiaries, they all shine as everyday individuals, people I could know in my life, could be me. Just ordinary looking, with ordinary jobs and ordinary vulnerabilities and concerns, yet made so sparklingly interesting and present.
